Why no flashcards for Danish?!?
I started learning Danish a few weeks ago, hoping I might someday go study abroad for a semester or two to Denmark. It's been going alright, since I have some background in German...but I have to go to memrise.com to practice my vocabulary, because the Danish course does not have flash cards! WHY? Many other languages on Duolingo have them, and they would be highly useful. It's really not a problematic feature to incorporate into the site.
I think it's because the languages with flashcards (French, Italian, etc.) are more developed and maybe not enough people take Danish to warrant a new section of the site. It's really a shame, I'd love to at least have flashcards for the other languages, since immersion is probably never going to happen :(
i don't think it would really take a lot of effort. they clearly have the system already in place for other languages, so all they have to do, is import the new words from Danish, and voila!
Hello! Flashcards are being tested and may be expanding to more languages if all goes well in the initial trial run :) And if you wonder about immersion for the Danish Course, it is unfortunately no longer being expanded to other languages. :/
That's too bad :/ After I thought about it for a while after I wrote this post, I actually realized that immersion would be more useful than flashcards, since I realized that context helps me learn new words a lot faster. Why won't immersion be expanded to other languages?
I don't know. But you have many other opportunities to immerse yourself in the Danish language. I can link you some Danish news sites, easy books to read etc. if you'd like :)
Of course I have other options :) But it would be nice to be around other Danish learners...
