Bugged fluency counter?
Recently, a new badge saying 'you are x% fluent in French' appeared on my home page - probably another one of those A/B tests. I hate it, but it probably does make me practise more, simply because I resent being told I'm only 59% fluent just because I've had slightly less time to practise .over the past few weeks.
Anyway, this morning I was practising Adverbs 3 and trying to get it to fill up again. After the first round, nothing happened; after the second round, I got the message saying 'you are now 60% fluent'; after the third round, I finally got the skill to fill up again - but then when I returned to the home page, the counter had dropped to 59% again. Surely reviewing more adverbs shouldn't have made me less fluent?
But words are getting weaker all the time, so in the time you strengthened one skill, other words became weaker.
OK, that's technically possible, but we're literally talking about a time span of 30 seconds here!
Your current fluency score is 0.5997854269. When this was 0.60, it showed as 60%.
The exact same thing happened again today: I got the message saying I'd got to 61% and then, after I had continued strengthening the skill and returned to the home page, I found it had dropped to 60 again (without any additional message). Even if this isn't an actual bug and the counter really is based on a number with an awful lot of digits that can change within seconds, I don't think it should really be like this.
Mine too.:( I think I preferred the "you can now read x% of French texts" thing - less frustrating an more meaningful because it gives you a practical example of what you can actually DO with your "fluency" and doesn't just give you a number. Oh well, maybe this A/B test will be over at some point....
