Email notifications have stopped - **SOLVED**

I have had no emails from DL for about a week, despite activity occurring that normally triggers email notifications. I have checked my settings - they're fine. And nothing is being diverted to my junk box. About a week ago I switched to German to check something, then switched back to Spanish. It seems unlikely that it was just coincidental that email notifications stopped at the same time. Has anybody else had the same problem, or does anyone know a solution?

SOLVED

It seems this problem has nothing to do with DL, but instead is the result of Vodafone, my backward facing email provider, who thinks it is their prerogative to block any emails they deem suspicious without notifying the end user of this in any way shape or form. DL's emails have had no chance to make it to my junk email box because they have been bounced at the server without coming anywhere near me. I have had this problem before when a business email, from a reputable source, was bounced by my provider so I never knew anything of it. This caused some grief and was only resolved when I contacted Vodafone and had them go through their records to find the phantom email.

Anyway, personal grievances aside, I changed the email address DL uses to my hotmail one and problem solved. I'll contact my email provider and see just why DL's emails are getting bounced, but having dealt with them before I don't expect a quick fix there.

I've had the same problem, it's been about two months now. I've created a similar discussion in the troubleshooting forum and sent two requests to Duolingo's support e-mail address... nothing. I've checked everything, remove every setting, saved, put them back. Nothing seems to fix it and it's terribly frustrating... Sorry I can't help you more than that, but if you do find a solution, there are a few of us in the same boat.

Thanks Bastou. Yep it's annoying. Responses are still showing up on the alert bell, but no email notification whatsoever. I see you have a few languages on the go. I wonder if your problem also began after switching between courses?

That's understandable. I recall now I opened a new tab and switched to German to check something, but then shut that tab and continued on with my Spanish lesson. I remember thinking at the time how it was strange that DL let me complete the lesson when I hadn't switched back to Spanish. Perhaps that is what caused the glitch. I'll try switching to and fro properly and see if it makes a diff.

Ok. No joy there. As an added fault, my phone is now (ever since a week ago) reminding me to practise at 11am each day even though that option is deselected on both my phone and my PC. It seems that whatever glitch has occurred has altered my settings and frozen them.

Hey jellonz, my e-mail notifications are back after more than 2 months! Unfortunately I have no idea what fixed the problem. They just came back this weekend and I've seen them this morning. That's great! Mine was solved about two days ago. I don't know exactly what the problem was, it may have been on Duolingo's side because someone posted a discussion just like this saying their notifications quit coming and I replied saying it had been months since mine worked and about an hour later both of us were getting email notifications.

So I just assumed the right person saw the thread, I still haven't heard back from support though.lol
