This seems like slightly awkward English, almost redundant. "The group does not exist anymore" implies today.

Today definitely is what makes this awkward in English... Wonder if it is a needed piece in French.

I thought it meant "The group does not exist after today"

Is the "does" necessary here ? Is "The group exists no longer today" grammatically incorrect?

Your translation "the group exists no longer today" is awkward construction in English. You would be understood, but it would sound a bit 'off' to a native speaker and isn't the best grammar. DL's English construction isn't all that great either as others have mentioned. A native speaker probably would say "The group does not exist any more"

"Today, the group no longer exists."

duh! the word bank does not provide the correct words for the specified correct answer.

As in The Beatles group no longer exists today?

"The group no longer exists from today" sounds better.

I f the group "does not exist any more/no longer exists/exists no more etc. etc." isn't the "today" superfluous in English. So, "The group doesn't exist anymore", would be an adequate translation, no?

What's wrong with, "the group doesn't exist today,"?

You forgot the "plus"; but it seems to me it would be correct to say "the group doesn't exist anymore", as several of us have already suggested.
