Italian "speak this" accepts whatever you say
Apologies if this has already been posted.
Recently the "wait while we assess your spoken Italian" thing has changed to a swirly thing that reminds me of the nerve-wracking windows update thing. Fair enough, but now (and I don't know if it is a coincidence") the system accepts whatever you say and IN ENGLISH. No matter how short, no matter how english, no matter how obscene. Try it. What's going on?
Is this on the web interface or an app?
I am not having that problem except it occasionally does accept rubbish input but generally it is fairly well behaved.
It may help to move the post to troubleshooting to cover a wider audience especially if it is not limited to Italian.
on the web on my laptop - I will try speaking pithy obscenities to the android app later. I don't know if it is just italian - maybe I will raise the point in "troubleshooting - thanks for the suggestion.
The microphone sentences can be "beaten" quite easily.
You're only cheating yourself if you don't try to do it correctly, though. So although it is fun to say something obscene and have it acepted, it's not that productive in the long run.
I found that my confidence in speaking aloud has improved greatly, even though I know that the program in the background isn't really listening.

I am not trying to cheat mabby I only came across this by accident when I stumbled terribly over a spoken phrase and found that I was still congratulated on getting it right. The problem is of course that I have no confidence that it is actually judging my better efforts. As you say, it appears that it isn't actually listening.
Sorry-- I wasn't accusing you of cheating to get ahead in the program.
I can see that you're more interested in learning-- you have almost a 500 day streak going. I apologize for the misunderstanding.
I'm not sure what the admins can do to improve the voice recognition, but I doubt that it's much.
But some people treat the program as a game; a challenge to be bested, in the shortest amount of time. And using the "speak this" to say anything is technically cheating. But only cheating yourself. It's the "yourself" part of my statement that I want to emphasize. I don't care if there are people around who are finishing everything in 3 months and bragging about knowing the language. Let them think what they want to.
On that possibly impressive looking streak, I should own up that for some time I have been coasting, just doing the minimum each day to stop it cancelling the streak - I have way more work to do. Thanks for the nice reply. On the non voice recognition issue, I take your point above that my pronunciation is maybe at least improving because of the enforced practice.
PS: Just noticed that you are over 800 days!
