The night of fire - la revetlla de Sant Joan!
Tonight is Saint John's Eve, la revetlla de Sant Joan (in Catalan). Among many other places, in Catalan-speaking areas we celebrate the summer solstice with fire. Bonfires are lit along the coast shore from a flame from the mystical mountain of "El Canigó" and in every little village people can enjoy a display of fireworks. It is very popular the use of bangers and firecrackers among children (used under supervision). People eat and drink together, and when the meal is finished it is tradition to eat a sweet dessert called "coca de Sant Joan" and to drink a sparkling wine called "cava".
