For the record, the abbreviated version "He wanted to kiss her, but he didn't," was accepted.

But “He wanted to kiss her, but didn’t” wasn’t.

"Traduku la sencon, ne la vortojn." didn’t work for “He wanted to kiss her, but did not kiss her.”

Sometimes we just have to do it word for word.

How would you shorten this in Esperanto? "Sed li ne faris" maybem

That seems OK to me. Later in the tree there are examples where “..., sed ne faris” is used for “but didn’t”.

I hear, "Li vojs kisis sxin, sed vi ne kisis sxin." That "volis" sounds like a single syllable no matter how often I listen to it and that second "li" just sounds like "i".
