Adjective + Noun (indefinite, plural)

Hi,

Can anyone explain to my why the example given for the above scenario is 'Hus er store'?

Why use the singular 'hus', if you are trying to say 'houses', why not 'huser'?

The plural of "hus" is "hus."

Ah! I live with a native speaker and he couldn't explain that, except to say 'it just IS that way'!!

So, if the example was horses are large I would use the er ending then, right? Hester er store.
