How can I add my own kids to my account?
I'd like to add my kids as they are still too young to have emails of their own. How can I do that?
If they are too young to have an email address, are they old enough to be using Duolingo? There can be a lot of spam and occasionally some of it is obscene.
If you really want them to have their own trees then you can make up an email address (they are not checked in any way).
No I don't think the rules have anything against age. Even all the mods encourage the kids to use Duolingo, so I think it should be okay.
Well Duo does discourage students under 12 or 13 (Not sure of the actual age) to adhere to US legislation but other than that you are correct.
My point was not the legality but the possible exposure to inappropriate spam. If the OP is happy with that situation, then he can make up an email address for them and give them an account of their own.
Younger children are far more capable of learning languages. At the age that you suggest, it is already a lot harder to teach them languages.
It is not their language learning ability that is the issue. It is the dangers that exist on the internet that worries Duo and the US Govmt (as well as many other governments). Duo itself is not a very secure site and younger children may be exposed to language (spam) that their parents may not approve of.
There's an age limit for email addresses? I have three kids (8, 5, and almost 3) and they all have email addresses. My older two do Duolingo and we just have it set up like a regular classroom on the Teacher Dashboard.
