How do you keep learning interesting?

I used to be so passionate about wanting to learn Spanish, but now I'm just bored. I find myself going weeks at a time without signing into Duo and I'm so tired of Spanish music...I need to make it fun again. :(

Try to set a daily goal, or ask yourself "why am I learning spanish?". A few days ago I found an article on how to get the desired results when learning anything. the advice was "focus on process, not outcome". We all want to see results right away, but instead of thinking of what you are going to recieve, turn your attention to what you've done to reach your current level of spanish. I am always looking for the best ways to learn, best techniques, webapps and books to keep me distracted. As a result, I find something interesting that keeps me going. :)

You know what, I think that is a big part of my problem. My goal so far has been "learn Spanish." That's super broad and not happening any time soon...A daily goal, like using one new word so many times might be perfect.

I felt that same with French, I think that some French kissing might make me more motivated. But yeah let's not talk about that anymore, to you I would suggest to travel somewhere, that's when you get the most motivated to learn more and use your skills.

Watch the series 'Gran Hotel' on Netflix. Season 3 has just been released. Great fun, interesting characters, surprising plot twists from time to time. With subtitles, you'll begin to link sounds with words you already know.

Write down a list of reasons why you are learning Spanish. 7 or 10 reasons. Put it down on paper.

What do you do for fun? What are your hobbies? Hagalo en español.

As for me, I enjoy watching boxing en español. Watching Pablo Escobar, Santa Diabla, La Reina del Sur is fun. Trying, succeeding and failing to talk to people en español is super-fun. Natalie LaFourcade's new album is GREAT! I just recently got into Chavela Vargas. She's a really unique. I can never get tired or new music or music that I enjoy. Dissecting and listening to Calle 13's rhymes works well for me. Playing video games in Spanish is beyond fun.

I enjoy greeting my brother on the phone by saying "Hola, buen día mi hermano." Or "Que te pasa?" He doesn't know Spanish.

Listening to George Lopez read "Duermete, caraj-- by Adam Mansbach is FUN. I practice Lopez's performance. It's just as good as Sam Jackson reading "Go the F to Sleep" by Adam Mansbach.

When I feel less motivated I won't push myself to do more than one lesson. Instead I'll read up on another language that I'm learning. If it happens to be a Romance language then it indirectly helps with my Spanish. However, sometimes I like to learn a little Korean just for a complete change. Do something cerebral and it's not time wasted.

Spanish is the only one I'm making any progress on. The other languages serve as a breather. I know if I study when I'm not motivated I'll do more harm than good.

Hola SusanS1. Mucho gusto. I try and fit Spanish in my daily life to keep myself motivated. I am doing some courses on Coursera (MOOC) and they have many students who speak Spanish. I try and join the conversation in Spanish and generally it is understood and some are even nice enough to correct the grammar. I found that people are very happy and supportive if one is trying to learn their language. As I try and get more involved in the conversation, I have to understand and prepare more. So that automatically keeps my interest in Spanish alive. Hope that helps. Muchas gracias.

What are you listening to? There's a ton of Spanish language music out there in all different styles, so if you're tired of what you know, you could look for something new.

Do you ever use it for real? Reading, speaking, whatever. It's hard to keep on caring if it's all just theoretical. Would you be able to take a vacation somewhere Spanish speaking to recharge? Do you remember why you were passionate about it in the first place?

I listen to a bunch of different streams on Pandora. I actually went to Spain for 2 weeks, but it was with a tour group so we didn't have any time to talk to locals, and no my funds are tapped out. I really really want to learn it for work. I'm in the business management career, and Spanish is all but required.

Set your daily goal to something and force yourself to meet it. Then stop even if you feel like you can do more. You should try to end most days thinking I could have done more.
