Kiam mi logxis en Rusio, mi rigardis banoj interne de kuirejoj en malnovaj logxejoj. Jen malbona fengsxujo.

Does "bancxambro" necessarily imply that there is a bath or shower in the room, or can it be used in a more general, American sense? Would a restaurant have a bancxambro?

A "banĉambro" absolutely has a bath (or shower). If you want a room with a toilet, you need the "necesejo".

Necesejo is definitely the word to use in the American sense.

Why does kitchen end with -ejo (place) and bathroom end with -ĉambro (room)? Could you say banejo for bathroom?

-ejo is more general than -ĉambro.

On Vikipedio, the entry for banejo states that it can be a room, a building, even a location. For example, an outdoor hot spring can be a banejo, but not a banĉambro. A sentō (Japanese public bath house) is a banejo. Banĉhambro seems to be the home bathroom.

Mia vortaro diras kaj "banĉambro" kaj "banejo" por "bathroom". I'm curious about the first question too. At what point is it appropriate to use -ĉambro instead of ejo? Like, kuiriĉambro isn't a word (I assume), but logxoĉambro is.

Just in case the homemade tacos are too close to Taco Bell's.

Sounds good. From an efficiency point of view it makes sense to have all the things needing hot water close together.
