Shouldn't "Ni fari kukon volas" be accepted? The word order is supposedly very flexible, and this one doesn't seem too unnatural.

Voli is "to want". Deziri is "to wish".

Why isn't this correct?: Ni volas por fari kukon? I have seen this construct in other examples, but I don't understand when to use por and when not to do so.

Think of por as "in order to", you don't want in order to make cake, right?

Mi volas lerni danci por fariĝi dancistino.
