Just remember that she's a learner too and her grammar/pronunciation might not be correct.

Yes, sociolinguistic authenticity. How to bring "learner's" Irish into the fold of "real" Irish?
A fascinating topic, sure, but also something really vital to nurturing Irish as a living language. Gaeilge was a wonderful discovery for me. I just love it and want to see it grow from strength to strength.

Indeed, it is a really interesting thought exercise. While I'm doubtful it can be done with current methods (there was some hope for Duolingo, but given that the speaker here is just as bad with a learner's dialect...), I'm hopeful that there might be a way to do it in the future, even if it is to encourage more Gaeltacht people to become teachers for young children.

Have you read any of the work of Dr. John Walsh? He's based out of NUIG and works on researching the 'New Speakers' of Irish.

Thanks for pointing me to John Walsh. I didn't know about his work on "new speakers." You'll be studying at NUIG, yes? Very exciting.

Unfortunately not. Things fell through with the grant.
