The words granda and malgranda should be in quotation marks.

Is there a reason for doing this in Esperanto? I haven't found a web site that explains the use of quotations marks (citiloj) in Esperanto.

The reason for doing this is that the sentence is merely referring to the words granda and malgranda, not using them. It's not specific to Esperanto.
