I work up from surgery speaking spanish
I had a minor outpatient surgery yesterday in which I was under anesthesia for about 2 hours.
For about 10 minutes as I was waking up but before I was lucid, the nurses couldn't get me to speak in English. Apparently I was very coherently answering all the questions in spanish and asking for my wife.
It's good to know my daily hours of studying are paying off. Now I just wish I could have a conversation when I wasn't hopped up on drugs and needing to have a conversation.
The funny thing is that I'm fairly certain I was dreaming in English and then when I finally started becoming lucid I remember hearing them ask me questions in English and then responded to one final question in spanish and the nurse said "Aaron I don't speak spanish can you answer me in english?"
Then I spent the next 10 minutes convincing them my level of pain really was 7/10 even though I was laughing histerically about the spanish.
That's pretty amusing. I find myself dreaming in Spanish from time to time, and it is satisfying knowing that daily study is having some effect. I hope the next time you get a chance to converse in Spanish you're not so doped you can't recall it happening!
When someone speaks to me in spanish, I usually dream in spanish that night.
Yeah I had a dream once where I was speaking Spanish. Amazing what our brains can do with all this information!
