7 Spanish Resources I wish I would have known about earlier

Spanishdict

Definitely one of the best translation services for Spanish. They have 10000's of words human translated, as well as conjugations for verbs. It is Helpful to quickly, and accurately, find out the meaning of a word.

StudySpanish.com

I definitely use this site the most now. It has over 100 lessons and explanations for most of the verb tenses, including the subjunctive, and other trouble topics like “Preterite vs Imperfect,”, “Estar vs ser”, etc.

About.com/Spanish

Another big website with tons of lessons for a Spanish learner. Along with the basic lessons: “How to conjugate present tense verbs”, etc., they have more specialized ones, like “15 Rules for Using the Definite Article in Spanish”, and add more often.

Conjumos.com

A site I haven’t used quite as much, but still a goldmine. It allows you to take different lessons that are in sections, such as grammar lessons, lessons to improve your listening, etc. Great companion to Duo.

CNNEspañol

Great way to read the news and practice my Spanish. Most of the articles are more advanced, so you my want to have a dictionary and some other resources close when you read it. Some of them were also translated by users here in Immersion, so that’s really cool too.

####Cervantes Placement Test

I use this too test my Spanish, and see what concepts need more work.

Lang-8

I’m guilty of using this site less than I should, because it is amazing, especially for more advanced learners. You basically upload a paragraph (or several), and native xyz speakers will correct it. To get the most out of this resource, you need to, after you receive the corrections, figure out why what you put is wrong, and why they used what they used instead. Several of the above resources can be helpful for that. I also find it helpful to then teach the concept I messed up on to, for example, my dog. It definitely drills the concept in.

All of these sites are goldmines of Spanish knowledge, and a great resource alongside Duo. Good luck, and happy learning!

Conjumos.com . . . conjugemos.

I'm going to explore that site again. Looks like they added more content. SpanishDict, about.com and wordReference.com contains more than enough concerning all grammatical Spanish topics. The user forums on SpanishDict and WordReference are invaluable.

I wouldn't call it time-waster, you will find great information. I like the wordReference forums in Spanish. There's always Respuestas in Yahoo Mx!

Ahh. That's because you've never seen me on forums, chasing bunny trails for hours on end. File this under "too much of a good thing." Even too much water can kill you! (jaja)

The free TV series "Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish" is a great resource. It's especially good for practicing your listening skills and it goes to different locations so you get to hear a good mix of Spanish/South American Spanish.

Indeed I have taken to keeping this on a tab this week. It it is fascinating to experience this different perspective. As a bonus it is much cleaner than the English site.
