It seems that just recently another narrator was added--a male voice. Thank you. The more variation in speakers we can hear the greater will become our fluency. I would like to see even more speakers and with accents from various regions in France.
Yes! The male voice talks more clearly and is therefore more easier to understand. :)
You don't. If you backspace what you had just been typing in, the female voice will switch to the male. :)
Sorry, I'll try to explain it better. When you type in a sentence but realize it's wrong you usually backspace to start typing in the whole sentence all over again. When you do that it will switch voices. Did I explain that better? :)
For me it seems to alternate without any input on my part unless, as Miss Thorson says, I backspace to correct my translation. Then it does repeat it in a different voice.
I think variety is good - however I believe accuracy is much more important. I presume both of the voices are computer generated? It would be great to have a variety of real French voices for the lessons. I wonder how much it would cost to hire a bunch of native French voice actors (possibly students) to record all the sentences in duolingo? (Or pay somebody to record a variety of regular French people.) Maybe we could have a kickstarter to raise funds to hire people to do this.
