Může být i "Chvíli si čteme", když "in a bit" je za chvíli, nebo ne?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/jgstcd

Tady nejde o casu ale o mnozstvi.

proč je ,,a bit'' copak je to počitatelné podstatné jméno?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/kacenka9

ano je. A BIT je 'kousek, kousicek'. ovsem do CJ se to vetsinou preklada jako 'trochu' (troska), protoze 'kousek si cteme' neni uplne bezne

Trochu jsme četli? Slyším tam "red" ne "ríd"

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/ZdeJanska

Ja tam rovněž mám na" red" a ne "ríd"

my čteme málo ,alebo čteme málo... není spravně ? )

We read a bit. Je zde čteno místo ríd (čteme) - red (minulý čas), takže překlad by měl být " Trochu jsme četli. Poznámka: V pomalé verzi je čteno Ríd jinak Red

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/ZdeJanska

Ani v pomalé verzi není"ríd", ale "red".

Proto je uznávané "čteme" i "četli"

Does trochu talk exclusively about a bit as in a short period of time? Or does it also talk about a small quantity?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Jamie08MD

"Trochu" is an adverb. We use it A LOT. It does not refer to a short period of time (there are other expressions - a moment=chvíli, for a moment=na chvíli, shortly=krátce, early=brzo), but it refers specifically to a small amount of everything (a bit of milk=trochu mléka; a bit of air=trochu vzduchu; a bit of time=trochu času; Do you like her? Yes, a little.=Líbí se ti? Jo, trochu.). You can also use it whenever it is possible to use word "slightly" in English (I came slightly late.=Přišel jsem trochu pozdě.)

Děkuji za bezvadné vysvětlení. Je teda možné říct: I came late a bit.? Zní mi to divně, ale to jen proto, že neumím anglicky dobře. A jaký je rozdíl mezi touto větou a větou I came a little late? Znamená to 'a bit' něco jako: ale jenom trochu a 'a little late' je prostě konstatování (bez výmluvy) nebo je to totéž?

Trochu means small quantity in general.

I am always wondering, but how do I know when I need to say 'si' or 'se?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/jgstcd

"Si" and "se" are reflexive pronouns. "Se" for direct objects and "si" for indirect objects. Roughly they correspond to "myself", "yourself", etc. But as you can see here, they are much more widely used than their English counterparts. There are dialects of English which follow Czech usage more closely than standard English does. Growing up in the southeast of the US I wouldn't have been been surprised to hear "I'm going to read me a book", with the "me" playing the same role as the "si" in "Trochu si čteme." But in Czech this usage is standard, while in English it is very far from standard.

Thank you so very much! What are actually the differences between direct and indirect objects? :)

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/jgstcd

In Dutch terms it's roughly the difference between Accusatief and Datief.

Actually here's a better way to explain it. Bobek is not wrong but there's more to it than that. If you look at the sentence "I bake a cake for Bob", bake is the verb and there are two objects. The direct object is what is receiving the action whereas the indirect object is affected by the action but is not what the action is being done on. In this example, the cake is the direct object because that's what's being baked. Bob is affected by the baking because he is receiving the product, but you're not baking Bob. Hope this helps!

Proč nemůže být čteme kousek?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/ValaCZE

To by tam muselo být kousek čeho.

Jaký je rozdíl mezi :my trochu čteme - a trochu si čteme. No to by mne hrozně zajímalo co si kdo vymyslí za odpověď !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/ladavala

I bez těch vykřičníků si nic vymýšlet nemusím. Není v tom žádný rozdíl a obojí je uznáváno.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/LZt9pqgI
