Speaking exercises

Is there any way I can enable speaking exercises for Norwegian? I've finished my tree a while ago, and I keep strengthening my skills but I am losing interest since it's always the same skills that need strengthening and I never get any speaking exercises. Right now I do just enough to keep my streak but it is getting really boring.

Some people have them and other don't, so I guess they're still being tested.

What I do with my other languages is actually to turn off the speaking exercises completely, and instead treat every sentence as a speaking exercise; reading it out loud to myself. Finding a TV or radio show to "shadow" is also good speaking practice.

As for strengthening, please don't do it if you feel like it's no longer benefiting you! If it's becoming boring and repetitive then it's not doing you any good. Do other skills, use outside resources, take a break and focus on another language for a week or two - but don't let something you used to find exciting become a drag. The streak is only valuable if it helps to keep you motivated, the real goal is always the learning. :)

As far as I know, there are no speaking exercises for Norwegian. Perhaps they will be added once the course graduates from beta.

There are speaking exercises for Norwegian, but I guess it's still an A/B test. It's part of an experiment with Chrome.

I'm not sure what you mean by speaking exercises, but when I use the browser Chrome, I get trials where I am asked to repeat sentences, When I use the browser Safari, I do not get such trials. Have you tried switching browsers?

I'm not sure what you mean by speaking exercises

  • speaking exercises = "say what you read" exercises
  • listening exercises = "write what you hear" exercises

when I use the browser Chrome, I get trials where I am asked to repeat sentences, When I use the browser Safari, I do not get such trials

Seems to be an A/B test similar on the one launched by Duo 2 months ago for Danish, Swedish and Turkish. Which would explain:

  • why it's never available on with browser
  • not all chrome's users have it.
