Why isn't the default translation always available in the comments?

Many times I answer a question correctly but I feel that's not really the right translation for it. It's like I hacked into the translation and it accepted my hack. At those times I like to go to the "Discuss Sentence" section and look for the default translation and any comments regarding it.

While I find perfectly normal that sometimes no one commented on the sentence yet, I don't understand why the default translation isn't always shown. I mean, there is a default translation for each sentence, right? Otherwise every answer we gave would be wrong. I feel that sometimes the only way to see the correct translation of a sentence is to answer it wrong, and lose a heart because of it.

I'd like to know if it is a limitation of the program, if you're waiting for moderators to insert the translations or if this is somehow done on purpose, and in that case, why.
