"Expenses" should be accepted as an alternative translation for "masraf".
"cost" and "expense" actually have small differences in English :) They aren't the same in Turkish either.
Are cost and costs interchangeable in English? My 'the costs of orange production are very high' was rejected. I reported it, just in case.
It is a subtle difference. "The costs" refers to the separate and individual costs of different aspects of production: fuel, wages, etc. "The cost" refers to the sum total expense incurred. It is a matter of the emphasis desired.
