I was amazed to see that I am down to a one day streak! Every day I visit the site and take a lesson. I had no idea that the timed tests did not count as a lesson. I would love to get my 346 day streak back. Something similar happened last year. I had almost 360 days in a streak when I took a lesson offline. I did not realize that I would lose my streak that day either. Come on guys! Give me back my streak!

Another victim. That`s why the streak should be the number of active days instead of continuous days. Sorry for your loss.

Then it's not a streak anymore, just the number of active days.

Its great to hear this suggestion from a person with 522 streak days! not only shows that you have a heart, but also that the concept is real and someone in an excellent position still recommends it! I really hope they can do it. The sooner the better.

I haven't missed a day since around the middle of March, but I've been knocked back to zero many times. It's because the clock is set to some other time zone, meaning I get spikes if I work at uneven times of the day. But it's no big deal: I do Duolingo at least once every day regardless of the doodads.

Agree. I wish I could set the time zone. I do duolingo in the evenings, and being on the west coast of the United States, I always do it, but sometimes I finish before 9 pm, and sometimes I don't. The point is the learning that takes place, so I'm not that concerned, but still...

Timed Test will give you XP points. It counts. If it is not online, then I doubt it will count. Many people are losing their streaks this Summer.

What a great accomplishment to have a streak of this length! Sorry for your loss but on the other hand, I hope you're celebrating that you've been learning languages consistently for the past year! Congratulations!

Agreed - use the streak freeze (in the store) to cover situations like this. Also make sure that the check mark appears on your streak after a lesson is completed.

I also agree. Decided to always have streak freeze active- I lost a streak while traveling because of time zone issues.

Before you log off for the day, always make sure you have a little green tick-mark over the fire icon right before your streak count. Then you know you have completed the streak count for that day. And keep a streak freeze active even if you don't mean to use it - just in case.

I suppose the only way to be sure is to make sure it does its little "Ding-ding-DINNNNNNG: You Have Met Your Daily Goal" thing, and leave plenty of time. (I usually do mine at midnight, so that it's already set and anything I do during the day is extra, but I know not everyone's schedules will permit that.)

Anyway! Now you have an awesome claim to pride and goal: now you can (buy a streak freeze and) set out to beat your personal record. Good luck!

I am so sorry to read that you lost your streak! I purchase a 'missed day' token from the lingot store (cost = 4). If I miss a day, I just use it and then buy another one. It is like insurance. Don't have much to buy in the store anyway! My streak is 271 days.
