In need of supplemental material.

I love the duolingo app on my phone. I use it way more than i probably should. But soon I will not be able to use it as much as I would like because of my job. But I will be able to have a book with me. I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for books that can go along with duolingo. The language I am working on is Portugese. Let me know if you know of anything good I can look into.

The one I've seen recommended the most on various websites is "Modern Brazilian Portuguese Grammar: A Practical Guide" and the corresponding workbook, by John Whitlam. I don't have a copy myself but I hope to get one at some point. You might see this referred to as "the green book". There's also the "501 Portuguese Verbs" book which is easier to find in bookstores - knowing lots of verbs is always good for fluency!

Boa sorte!

Try just reading a book in Portuguese. I find this was very useful when I didn't have time to study and I wanted to keep the language fresh in my mind. Depends where you live but when I lived in London I found the local libraries had a few adult books in Portuguese. I wrote down the regular verb conjugations (the irregular ones I figured out from the regular rules) and kept the list as a bookmark.
