I wrote an Excel program where you can store/practice words to help with memorizing.
Since Duolingo words page still does not offer us any details for the vocabulary (gender mainly). Moreover, having reached the 1000 words mark, I decided to take matter in my own hands and wrote an Excel sheet program (VBA). As memorizing words is only getting harder and harder,
The sheet is pretty much similar to that of the Words page. However, here you have to feed the words yourself manually(copy paste?) along with the meaning and any other details. be it gender, sample sentence, plural form ...etc.
Then you'll be able to generate the words randomly using a pop up message box and another for the meaning. A counter will display the total number of words added, and how many words still to be encountered. You can always reset the second counter and start again. The display.
The pop up messages.
Using the sheet is very simple. its rather self explanatory. Just tweak! and try yourself
The excel file I included is the one in the picture with the words already added. Just delete and add.
To avoid destroying the thing...the only data you are required to input are the word/meaning. No cell skipping for the words. (X) column can only be 1 or 0.
Important note/ you need to enable the macro in Excel to be able to use the button/code.

This isn't my first excel sheet. https://www.duolingo.com/comment/3384095 :)
Took me an all-nighter to make and understand the code. Please let me know what you think of it.
I would strongly recommend that you add words in correct capitalisation and spelling.
You have some German nouns in lowercase (telefon), some non-nouns in uppercase (Betrachten), the umlauts seem to be missing (Moglichkeit should be Möglichkeit) and there are some further typos (Wiedersprechen should be widersprechen since it is to speak against [wider] and not again [wieder]).
I was going to add a macro to automate capitalization anyway, so I didn't bother at the moment. Plus, Iwas filling these as I said while pulling an all-nighter, and could barely logic at that time :D so yeah thats why I was missing some of the umlauts.
And thanks. Don't know why I had it 'Wiedersprechen' it must have been a typo :)
I appreciate your comment
Edit:I did in fact add a macro to capitalize the first letters. I should soon upgrade the link here
How does this improve on Anki?
Mine is the simplest form of this program and serves the need + it being an excel sheet enables you to copy and paste more than one word at once from and to the sheet easily.
The ability to save the file multiple times with different words? I don't know if Anki has something similar.
I tried to keep the use as simple as possible. All you need is a message box with the word/meaning and nothing else.
I'd still use mine because I made it :D
