Ukrainian Comparative Adjectives

I was looking at this grammar site here: http://www.ukrainianlanguage.org.uk/read/unit09/page9-5.htm. My question is: is there any way to construct the comparative form of an adjective? The article mentions some common endings, but doesn't include any general rules for anything beyond recognition. I realize I could use either більш or менш for the comparative, but the actual form of the comparative is required for the superlative.
