görülmek görünmek

What's the difference between görülmek and görünmek? They both seem to be the passive of görmek, but I'm guessing there's a subtle difference between the two?

görülmek is to be seen, görünmek is to appear

Selcen has a very good explanation for this. I can only add that görülmek is passive whereas görünmek is an active process. One can say "bir doktora görün" "get seen by a doctor", but getting seen is an active process (you get yourself to be seen deliberately)
