new annoying message

Every time I type in a translation in Immersion I now get a message that I have typed too fast, and am I sure my translation is accurate? I don't know what problem that's intended to solve, but it's a dumb idea. The computer doesn't know how fast I'm supposed to do translations. But Duo has found a way to stop me from doing any. To me that message is really offensive, especially after every sentence.

Are you copy-pasting into the translation box? This message is there to prevent people from pasting from Google Translate, and should only trigger when you enter translations super fast.

I never copy-paste anything. If I'm super fast, I can't help it. I do it by typing one character at a time. Maybe testing for excessive speed isn't the way to achieve what you want. This is amusing on a site that teaches languages with speed tests. EDIT Actually, the same thing happens when I type in single-word headings. I can't even say I'm speedy.

Ah. There seems to be a bug with Windows that we will soon fix. I'm very sorry about this.

whoa! O.O I hope that doesn't happen to me. Also, I don't want people monitoring how fast or slow I go anyway. It would feel very invasive! I am a self-conscious enough person without that added anxiety. I'm sorry this is happening to you and I hope it is just an old, put aside idea that accidentally got activated and that gets fixed soon! :)

I find it annoying too. I think it might be to stop people from blindly entering translations or marking translations as correct to quickly gain points.

And it also might stop people who would actually translate from translating because they don't want to have to deal with it.

I had the same thing. I got an email alert about an edit to my sentence, read the email, thought about it, decided to upvote the new version, and got an irritating pop-up for my trouble. Maybe this is intended to combat people copy-pasting gibberish--which I've seen exactly once--but I doubt it'll stop anyone who's that determined to cheat, and it's really off-putting for the rest of us!

I totally agree. I've already written a long, detailed e-mail to support outlining how offensive this is. Thanks for posting.

Yes, it drives me mad. Then it gives you an option to prevent the page from creating additional dialogues...but it still does.
