The way the DuoLingo lady says it, it is "I hit the robot". She emphasized "slår". To say "turn on", you need to emphasize the word "på" when you speak.

I agree it sounds wrong. Sounds more like she says "i am HITTING on the robot", so she's hitting it somewhere.

Don't know how you can make the voice say it better though.

Hire a real person to record the audio.

I think its a real persons voice. When i was learning portuguese, someone posted a interview with the lady who's voice was used in dl pt. I recon its the sysnthesis algorithm that needs tweaking for specific cases like this.

Fair enough, but I still think it would be simpler to just record a person saying each sentence and word individually instead of trying to fake it. I realize that probably takes up way more storage space but I stand by my point.

The Esperanto course does this, and the quality difference is incredible. Even without such recordings though, as long as one remains vigilant in learning around the shortcomings of the TTS, one should hopefully be okay.

It is very expensive to get real people to do this, or requires a crowdsourcing system and the headaches coming from that.

I'm so sexy, I even turn the robot on.

What is up with all of the robots in Duolingo? They keep popping up in French as well.

The robots are turning on us!

Or we are "turning on" them ha ha ha ha...

No, it's the robots that are turning us on

That could turn out to be the biggest mistake you ever made. D

Are Android and robots equal?

Before the law?

Yeah, they are. But cyborgs and androids are not. Cyborgs are partially organic.
