How does the root of the word relate to "schlecht"? Or is it coincidence?
Linguists said that the word <Geschlecht> is related to the verb <schlagen> instead of <schlecht>.
thanks for the clarification.
Kind of a comical question. Or maybe a poignant question.
We never say that in daily life, right?
It can also mean gender in the sense of origin, lineage, which is rather more banal.
I'm afraid this is another instance of a meaning given in the drop-down box being marked as wrong. . . I chose "family" here. Oh well.
