Other resources to better immerse myself?
Are there any other websites to better perfect the language, or even better, talk to other people wanting to learn Swedish, in Swedish? Like with learning other languages, I've found talking to others, speaking the language is one of the best ways to further language learning once you've gotten some conversational phrases and words under your belt. Tack, snålla!
I've picked up a reference to http://lang-8.com/ in a similar thread a few weeks back and have been pretty hooked on it ever since. It's a language exchange site where people are encouraged to write journal entries in the language(s) they are learning whilst correcting the journal entries of others written in ones own native language.
Are you writing Swedish texts on there? I used it some years ago for praciticing Japanese and I had a really good experience there, but it also felt like there were practically only Japanese people learning English and English speaking people who want to learn Japanese on there and texts in other languages only rarely got some corrections. Is this different now? I've been thinking about using Lang-8 for Swedish like it did for Japanese, but I haven't done it yet because I thought it might not be worth it, based on my previous experience.
I am not in writing mode yet, because I tend to "front load" in meritocracy communities, as in I amass goodwill by doing others favors before relying on others to do favors for me - in my case by correcting German texts written by people practicing German - German being my first language. That said, Swedish texts written by non-natives are certainly getting corrected by Swedish native speakers on Lang-8, albeit not as quickly and frequently as those more popular languages. This being the height of Swedish summer vacationing, I imagine that Swedish native speaker attention may improve come September. And I wouldn't be surprised if there wouldn't be markedly more Swedish correction potential out there during the dark and cold fall and winter months.
Ah, okay, sounds good! I think I'll give it a try in autumn then! If I reactive my old account I should also still have all the points etc. from correcting. Thanks!
Ich komme übrigens auch aus Deutschland und Deutsch ist ebenfalls meine Muttersprache :)
And this is not quite what you asked for, but: you also might find the TV Series "Welcome to Sweden" entertaining. It's a bilingual comedy series created by Amy Poehler's brother. See links to a couple of streaming services accessible in the US that offer it below.
