If it helps, kuracisto comes from kuraci (to treat/cure) + -isto (proffession/hobby suffix).
Kuraci in turn comes from the Polish word kuracja (treatment, cure)
Which in turn probably comes from the same place the English word "cure"comes from, which is the Latin word "cura".

I don't know if this was covered elsewhere, but if Zamenhof was "Doktoro Esperanto," then what does Doktoro mean? Is it purely used as a title?
'Doktoro' is a title for someone has earned a doctorate, which could be in medicine or in another field.
