I'm a native Spanish speaker and I've never heard ''LA soldado'' before. It even sounds weird/strange. People would never say ''LA soldado'', but ''EL soldado''.

I still learn English. Feel free to correct me in case I make a mistake. Thank you!!!

Hi ecl567 and Ema17a. I am from Argentina too.

In fact , i have heard "LA soldadO" many times, and it's correct. There are a few nouns that do not exchange the ending "o" for "a" to refers to female genre.

At least, i have never heard "la soldadA" ( this is really an awful big mistake).

Then, the correct translations are:

"the soldier" = "el soldado" or "la soldado"

Hi arman2731.

No. "El soldado" is definitely correct. And "La soldado" is correct too.
