I watched it regularly to try and pick up the Swedish without reading the subtitles. It was a nice way to practice and get exposed to some Swedish culture. I'll miss it.

Too bad. I watched it as well. The show is quite predictable and full of stereotypes, but it's still entertaining and easy to follow.

Anyway, gotta get those tapes from Will Ferrell ;)

I am a big fan of comedy series Solsidan and Kvarteret Skatan. They are both very light and happy, although different in style, and wittily satirical about modern Swedish society. One can definitely learn a lot about the country and people from them (just remember to not take them too seriously) and have a good laugh at the same time.

if that is quality out of Sweden then they should stay out of movies, horrible show!

I just started watching Real Humans (Äkta människor) it's all in Swedish and a bit scfi-ish and I'm hooked on it now. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2180271/ I can also highly recommend Bron (The Bridge) if you like crime/thriller series it's extremely well written, definitely the best quality programme I've seen come out of Sweden. The downside is both Swedish and Danish is spoken it in. On the upside it does touch upon some of the Scandinavian in-jokes between the Danes and Swedes which is fun and it gave me some cultural education. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1733785/

That's not a downside if you're trying to learn both Swedish and Danish. :-)

Quite right. I'm really looking forward to the new season. Sadly, Kim Bodnia has quit the show, but I'm sure they'll make it work anyway.

Sad. I never watched it. I found it too cringe worthy. But it was cool to see Sweden and Swedish featured on tv like that. :/

I really wanted to like 'WtS' more and also pick up on the Swedish in it. I just didn't enjoy the stereotypes that much. A lot of the characters were written to be too whiny IMO. Still kinda bummed it's off the air though. It could have had potential.

Thanks for the other tips though, everyone.

You could see Ingmar Bergman movies. They are usually nothing but dialog.
