Yes - I think thats a bit unfair - maybe supply an explanation as to why it would be better to use 'un' as opposed to 'uno'.

Because asking for "a sandwich" is basically asking for "one sandwich."

I agree, this says one sandwich, not a sandwich Duolingo should offer explanation.
