Because without the de, cruinniú na tuismitheoirí means “the meeting of the parents”.

A case where a literal translation (from Irish into English) produces an illogical result. You might be speaking with some of the parents, but you will be speaking at the meeting. Perhaps there is a more graceful way to convey the intended nuance here.
