Hi Duolingo,

in immersion, when you revert a translation to a previous one, it changes the translation but with the name of the writer of the original translation you reverted to. I think it should put your name, but (as mentioned by mptmpt) it would lead to the problem of credit for the translation. So I think that the better thing, in order to avoid both problems (second problem described a little later) that arise with each of the previous solution mentioned, to do is to credit it in one of the two following ways (or in the idea of them):
- "[your name] (originally translated by [name of original translator])",
- "[name of original translator] (reverted back by [your name])".

Indeed, with the name of the user that wrote the first time the translation, it can give the false impression that someone (the user that wrote the first time the translation) is refusing the edition and always put it back to his/her own translation when it can be in fact several other users that revert it back.

Also, I think that (as already suggested) when someone revert to an old translation, she/he should be able to (or maybe, it should be mandatory... ? :)) comment her/his reverting back.

It was like what you describe a few months ago, and some of the senior duo-learners posted comments suggesting the opposite of what you propose, they didn't want to claim authorship for a sentence if the only thing they did was to revert to a previous translation. I didn't notice exactly when this changed because I wasn't very active in the immersion for the past few months. The alternative you propose sounds pretty reasonable, to mention both the author and the person that made the last revision!

Oh, thanks for the information. Indeed, they're would be this "credit" problem...

So the second solution seems the better one then. I edited my comment according to your remark.

It seems it's back to old version: when reverting it's your name and not the one of the original editor that's put.
