voltear o voltearse...
?Es posible decir "Ella se volteó a mi lado y entonces..." o tengo que decir "Ella volteó a mi lado y entonces... " ? Las dos son sinónimos o no ?
Hi! The proper way is "Ella se volteó a mi lado y entonces...".
P.D: In Spain, is better say "Ella se giró a mi lado" o "Ella se puso a mi lado", because in Spain "voltearse" is better for objects, like a card: "Volteo esta carta"
Regards from Spain!
thx bro ! do you know by any chance if voltearse is used for people in latin america or would it always be girarse ? Ponerse would be kind of unspecific like literally "put herheslf to my side" which could also mean (out of context) while standing lying sitting right ? My example is ment to be while lying on a beach or whatever.

"Voltearse" is good, if you say "Voltearse" in Spain, we can understand you, but it is more usual for people in latin america. Yes, "Ponerse" in this situation is like "put herself to my side"
Hi Alberto, did you mean that voltear is for objects? You wrote that voltearse is for objects, but that doesn't seem correct.
Hi! In Spain you can say "voltear", "girar".... There are a lot of verbs that could be good, I said that "voltear" is for objects, because is more usual for objects, it is not usual "voltear" for persons (in Spain). As I said to The_Higgs_Boson, you can say as you want, here in Spain we can understand you, only I said what is more usual. Regards!
