There recently was a discussion about a user with a satellite connection who has similar issues. Kristine answered that proxy and satellite internet can interfere with the Duolingo experience. Is your problem related?

I don't get what's happening. You have tested out the basics 1 of german, but did you passed it? Maybe you didn't, that's why nothing changed. Can you tell more details?

He has Hughesnet, which is satellite. Kristine said satellite internet interferes with Duolingo.

Which browser are you using and which operating system? This information can help duolingo staff in determining the exact problem.

Did you try any other language to check if this is limited only to German?

Also I suggest you transfer this to troubleshooting section where it belongs. Just press edit and move to troubleshooting.

This could be a problem with your internet connection. Not sure about how Duolingo handles it, but maybe your connection gets lost during the lesson, and therefore the progress is gone afterwards. Are you using windows? If yes, you can open the program "Task-Manager", open the tab called "Network" and then see what is happening with your network when you are using Duolingo. If it isn't connected constantly, this may be the problem.

When I had HughesNet, nothing worked. It seemed to have a constantly shoddy connection. That might be your problem.

Hi! It seems like you're using satelite internet, which is what is causing this. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do right now to help you! :/
